How an institution gets DRIs
Joining the platform takes five steps. There is no public sign-up: a cabinet account is opened only on the basis of an official application and agreement.
Steps
Initial application
The institution fills in the partnership application form, giving its official name, type of activity, the responsible person and its approximate annual volume of publications.
Review of documents
The operator checks the institution’s legal status, its publishing activity and the technical state of its source platform. Additional documents are requested if needed.
The agreement is signed
The parties formalise an agreement setting out their rights and obligations: metadata quality, the update procedure and the terms of liability.
Cabinet and prefix are issued
The institution is assigned its own prefix, cabinet accounts are opened for the responsible staff, and the first records are prepared in the test environment.
Records are published
A DRI is issued at once for metadata that passes the automatic checks, and the records appear in the open registry. Further publications are submitted regularly through the cabinet or the API.
Information to include with the application
When the information below is complete, the review takes less time.
The institution’s full official name and legal status
A description of its publishing: journals, collections, conferences
The website or platform where its publications are hosted
The responsible staff member: position and official contact details
Approximate number of publications a year and the integration method
When an application may be rejected
The institution’s publishing activity cannot be confirmed
The information provided does not match the facts
Compliance with the metadata requirements is not ensured
If an application is rejected, the reason is given in writing, and the institution may apply again once the shortcomings have been fixed.
