No. A DRI is issued through the institution that published the work or is responsible for it. An author asks their own institution or the journal’s editorial office.

Public search, the passport pages and the open statistics are free for everyone and need no registration.

No. A DRI speaks only to identification and to the correctness of the metadata. It does not replace peer review, a ranking or an assessment of scientific quality.

The identifier is never deleted. The record is corrected or its status is changed; the history of every change is kept.
